They came to know it through the structure of Ādam’s creation. Allāh-Taʿālā created Ādam and included in him an ego which includes lustful desires, anger, and an intellect. The human being has three strengths. The strength of anger causes bloodshed. The strength of lustful desires spreads disorder on the earth through sinful disobedience and thirdly, the strength of intellect is that which brings about benefit. The angels looked at Ādam and said that these two strengths (anger and lustful desires) will inevitably overcome the single other strength (intellect), therefore, disorder on the earth has to happen and bloodshed must occur.
