The angels then replied through this answer,(أَتَجْعَلُ فِيهَا مَنْ يُفْسِدُ فِيهَا وَيَسْفِكُ الدِّمَاءَ)
Will You create there one who will spread disorder on the earth and cause bloodshed?”
How did they come to know that the progeny of Ādam will spread disorder on the earth and cause bloodshed?
They came to know it through the structure of Ādam’s creation. Allāh-Taʿālā created Ādam and included in him an ego which includes lustful desires, anger, and an intellect. The human being has three strengths. The strength of anger causes bloodshed. The strength of lustful desires spreads disorder on the earth through sinful disobedience and thirdly, the strength of intellect is that which brings about benefit.
The angels looked at Ādam and said that these two strengths (anger and lustful desires) will inevitably overcome the single other strength (intellect), therefore, disorder on the earth has to happen and bloodshed must occur.
It is also said that they understood that Ādam and his progeny will spread disorder on the earth through the word khilāfa (deputyship) because khilāfa has its roots from "khilāf",meaning discord and every deputy inevitably opposes his predecessor. Since Ādam was to be the deputy of Allāh, they thereby knew that he will be the source of disorder and of bloodshed.
It is also said that they came to know this through the tablet(lawḥ) because it is written in the preserved tablet that Ādam will be a deputy on the earth and part of his progeny will spread disorder and cause bloodshed until Allāh will fill the Fire of Jahannam with them while another part of them will be obedient ones and Allāh will fill the Paradise with them.
